First-time Freshman Scholarships
for Francis Marion University
At FMU, we offer a number of scholarship opportunities in recognition of your academic achievements ranging from $1,000 to full tuition, room and board.
You may be eligible for the following scholarships (click on each scholarship for more information):
There is no application for the Distinction scholarship – awards are based on your high school grades and SAT/ACT scores. For the 2009 – 2010 school year, over 140 students were awarded Academic Distinction Scholarships. Their mid range SAT scores were: 1120 – 1220.
The Fellows, Patriot, Teaching Fellows and Robert E. McNair scholarships all require applications to be completed on-line.
You may complete the on-line application prior to admission, but you will need to be admitted before the scholarship application is read. All applications must be completed and submitted online by March 1, 2010 with the exception of the McNair Scholarship. The McNair Scholarship application deadline is November 16, 2009
Francis Marion University takes pride in enrolling at least 1,100 students who benefit from the state’s Palmetto Fellows, LIFE and HOPE scholarship opportunities. Nearly 80% of our undergraduate students receive scholarships, need-based grants, loans and student employment through the Office of Financial Assistance.
Out-of-state students receiving a Distinction, Fellow or Patriot Scholarship will receive a waiver for in-state tuition.
The Office of Financial Assistance will work one-on-one with you to insure that your financial aid package fits your family situation. Students must complete and submit a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
